Training
Required Dispatch Training
Employee training is of the utmost importance to the Murray County E9-1-1 Center. Without qualified personnel to handle calls, the 9-1-1 system would ultimately fail. At a minimum, employees at the center must receive training in:
  • Basic Communications Officer Training Course: This is a 40 hour course and is required by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council
  • TDD / TTY: Each dispatcher is trained to recognize a TDD / TTY call, process TDD / TTY calls, and the use of the TDD / TTY equipment as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Emergency Medical Dispatch: Every dispatcher is trained to provide life saving instructions over the phone to callers with medical emergencies
  • CPR, First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillators (AED): Utilizing the American Red Cross program in conjunction with emergency medical dispatch (EMD), each dispatcher is trained to respond to emergencies providing instructions over the phone to callers with medical emergencies
