Juvenile Court

Responsibilities

The Murray County Juvenile Court is a juvenile court organized under Chapter 11 of Title 15 of the Official Code of Georgia.

The court is dedicated to serving the residents of Murray County by hearing all cases in its jurisdiction involving allegations of dependency, traffic violations and CHINS conduct of children under the age of 18 years of age. For any child under the age of 17, the court has delinquent jurisdiction. If, after adjudication, a child is found to be in need of treatment, rehabilitation, or supervision to safely remain in the community, the court will provide access to appropriate treatment programs whenever feasible.

Office Staff

The Murray County Juvenile Court staff has two full-time employees, one part-time employee, and a volunteer coordinator on contract. Judicial functions are provided by one full-time judge who serves as the Chief Juvenile Court Judge of the Conasauga Judicial Circuit (Murray and Whitfield Counties). The day-to-day operations are managed by the Circuit Court Administrator.
