Traffic

Responsibilities

Traffic issues include misdemeanor charges made by the Murray County Sheriffs Office, Georgia State Patrol, Department of Natural Resources, and the Motor Vehicle Compliance Division (DOT). For any questions, contact this office or email Rhonda, or Cintya.

Payments

Citations may be paid online, in person at the office, or by mail:
Murray County Probate Court
Traffic Fine
115 Fort Street
Chatsworth, GA 30705

All payments must be made in the form of cash or money order with the exception of online payments, which are in the form of debit or credit card. Payments must be made on or before the court date listed on the citation given to you.

If you fail to pay a citation, a notice of license suspension will be completed and a $60 court cost added. This information will then be forwarded to the Department of Driver Services for suspension of your driver's license. If the charge was a bondable offense then you must appear. If you fail to do so, a warrant will be issued, a court cost will be added, and you will be held in the Murray County Jail until the next court date is available.

Contesting Your Citation

Should you desire to contest your citation and have your case heard before a judge or jury, you must appear at your arraignment and enter a plea of not guilty. Your hearing will be scheduled for a later date where the officer and witnesses, if any, will be subpoenaed to testify.

Request for jury trials are transferred to Superior Court. For questions regarding any drivers license issues contact the Department of Driver Services at (678) 413-8400. All traffic citations that are 120 days past due are referred to SC Services Inc. at (877) 492-9555.
